Letter From the President
Trent Duerr
To my fellow ARC Board Members and all of this year’s competitors,
Let me be the first to officially welcome you to the inaugural Appleton Ryder Cup (ARC) tournament. The firsts of anything great, and the men who made them possible, hold a unique and venerable place in history. I think I can speak for Mr. Columbus, the Wright brothers, and Sir Edmond Hillary when I say that being part of the first annual ARC dwarfs their respective achievements.
I hope that each of you are looking forward to this year’s event as much as I am. More than ever, the ARC is exactly what we as players, and the entire Fox Valley community as fans need. If you have not heard, we are currently living in unprecedented times. Competition and camaraderie have always been hallmarks of the ARC, but this year it is my sincere belief that The Tournament will be able to stand as a beacon of hope and provide an island of sanity in a vast sea of chaos.
Since the inception of the ARC, The Tournament has always held a very special place in my heart. It seems like just yesterday this event was simply an idea between friends, but as I write this the ARC has a rich, almost week-long, history which I am sure will continue to grow for many years to come.
This year’s event will take place on October 3rd & 4th. As it is the inaugural event and we do not have a previous champion, there will be a tee flip prior to the event to determine which course is played on which day. For your reference, in addition to the clubhouse bar at Butte Des Morts, there is an oasis that can be enjoyed near holes 7, 8, 11, 12, and 15. At Northshore, please keep a close lookout for cart girls. I have been told they exist, but have yet to see one.
As we prepare for and compete in this inaugural event, enjoy yourself, enjoy the experience, and enjoy the competition, but do not take this responsibility lightly; for we too shall be written into history as the first to accomplish something great.
Never lay up,
Trent Duerr
