ARC Board and Competitors,

It is such a personal honor to be addressing you from the esteemed position of Vice President. I’ll speak for the Board when I say that we are thrilled to have made the progress we have over the past couple weeks in getting the ARC off the ground. A big congratulations to President Duerr for launching a phenomenal website and for the rest of the Board for coming together in such a cohesive way.

It is this cohesion that makes me optimistic not only about the future of the ARC but also the Appleton area and the greater world. Who would have thought that four guys from such diverse backgrounds (I went to public school) could come together and lay the groundwork for something so world changing? I speak with modesty when I say that if the four of us can put this tournament together maybe we should be put in charge of US foreign policy.

I’d like to take an aside to talk about the beauty of golf. I think Bobby Jones summed it up perfectly when he said, “Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots - but you have to play the ball where it lies”. I hope in life you’ll realize that your errant shots are simply allowing you to view the hole from a new angle. I hope that new found perspective gives you unexpected clarity and the ability to adapt to whatever is being thrown at you. Most importantly, I hope you live your life with honesty and integrity - two of the most foundational principles of the ARC.

I look forward to seeing everyone on the course.
